Offering up my 1987 Tamiya Lunch Box RC. So yes, this is the 1980's original. Had not been used since I was a kid. Sadly, it was no longer functional. I am no hobbyist, but I had to at least try to save it! So I did the research, stripped it down and resurrected with what at the time (10 years ago) would be considered modern components. So as for being an original, it is physically 100% vintage including, tires, shocks, gears etc. The motor and electric are not vintage. It has a pretty nice brushed motor and modern receiver, which is a Fly Sky FS-GT2. It's pretty fast! I would say it's faster than it was in 1987.
I didn't resurrect it to play it and I am a novice with RC's. For that reason, it is sold as-is. I don't know how it would hold up to someone really wanting to run this thing hard over jumps etc. I just tested it before this listing and it works. So you are getting a functional set-up that's ready to run. Probably best suited though as an occasional run up and down the road and more so as a vintage collectible. The steering can be a little quirky to dial in just right, but it steers ok. The remote is charged with any old micro USB cord. The van needs one thing and that's a battery. The battery connection is a standard white plastic Tamiya plug. Needs a 7.2V nicad pack. The one I have is no good. I ran the truck and the battery immediately wore down. Condition wise it's from 1987 and looks it! Not terrible but my 12 year old self played with it, so shows some wear in spots. This is the way they should look! Only other thing condition wise is the wheelie bar area plastic molding has some glue on it as I got rear-ended by another RC back in the day. It held up fine there-after. Really cool collectible that you don't see often!
