Rule #1: DC motors do not have a set RPM like AC motors due since they are not powered by a SineWave like 50 or 60 cycles for instance which locks the rotations to a specific RPM range. Therefor a DC motor has a rather large RPM range dependent on LOAD. 

The higher the work load the slower it turns BUT the more torque is produced to keep your project Moving!

This is a very substantial and solid motor at 24 lbs! Coated with heavy powder coating, corrosive sealed for salt water use and all brass hardware! Heavy duty plate, bearings and rotor for decades of very dependable service life!

Use a 120 VDC rated fuse or breaker to keep your motor safe. If breaker snaps just push to reset and your back in business :) (If you do not use a breaker you will be 'dead in the water" with a fused motor that will take hours to replace) 

 It is so easy to add a $15.00 breaker just to be safe that you really should do it.
